Since graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2013, Lucile and Ben have worked in tandem on various projects in different mediums. Their collaboration has culminated in the creation of Alterfact Studio, a platform through which to conduct critical research with materials and data translated through the manufacture of ‘stuff’.

Alterfact’s practice is currently focused on the use of 3D printing in clay as a small batch manufacturing process. They push the boundaries of this traditionally plastic-based medium, and play with its connotations of utilitarianism and gimmickry, as it moves into a feasible reality.

The Empty Flag design was created as an alternative to the Aboriginal flag whilst we campaigned to #FreeTheFlag and raise awareness of the Aboriginal flag copyright issue.

The flag was freed on 25.01.2022 and the empty flag lives on as a symbol of the impact of political fashion - it helps that it looks cool too!

Clothing The Gaps is a fresh and dynamic Community brand managed by health professionals that celebrates Aboriginal people and culture. We were recognised for our excellence at the 2020 Dreamtime Awards and was awarded 'Business of the year'.

We make our clothes with Mob in our heart and everyone in mind. We label our clothes Ally Friendly and Mob Only because everyone was asking “Can I wear that?”. 

We produce merch with a message and encourage people to wear their values on their tee. 

We influence and unite people through fashion and causes so that Aboriginal people and Communities can thrive.

Did you know?! Clothing The Gaps is a play on the words "Closing the Gap", which is an Australian Government health initiative to help close the life expectancy gap between Aboriginal people and non-Indigenous Australians.
