LAURA VELEFF has been making ceramic work for her label LEAF AND THREAD for the past 9 years. Laura works predominantly on the wheel and creates pieces that are imbued with her deep respect and love for natural materials.

Since moving from Melbourne to the Central Victorian Goldfields, Laura's more recent work tells the story of the complex narrative and history of her new surroundings, often incorporating materials she gathers from the environment.

ANNA GLEESON is an Australian artist now based in New-York. Anna creates contemporary ceramic sculptures using traditional hand-building techniques which she manipulates in order to distort the expected aesthetic of a vessel, creating playful and intriguing sculptures. 
'My ceramics practice is in conversation with a vessel tradition and aiming to complicate and extend that tradition. Using eccentric and invented techniques I push materials beyond what I know will work and into some kind of failure. I deliberately set up new ways of working with that mess and complicate an existing mode of making. I'm curious to see how it will fail; what that failure might look like or evoke. Working this way feels connected to some of my earliest childhood memories of making - not being as good at it as I would like, not having the right kind of glue or skills and being anyway completely absorbed in the attempt; pulled chiefly by curiosity.' - Anna Gleeson.

Theodosius Ng 黄振康 (they/he/she) is a queer Chinese ceramic artist based in Naarm (Melbourne). Their practice employs wheel throwing, hand building and experimental glazing techniques. They are passionate about cross-disciplinary practices and tactility in materiality.

Inspired by their queerness, chronic illness and immigrant experience, Ng is curious about exploring the extraneous within the familiar through cultural, ritual, and spiritual concepts - revealing an inherent need to find pattern, beauty and ritual. Their works aim to co-create and collaborate with nature and humankind.

DAWN VACHON studied visual arts at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, receiving her BFA in 2008. Since relocating to Melbourne, she has made a lot of ceramic pots and has exhibited a handful of ceramic things that aren't pots. Dawn can often be found throwing, handbuilding and concocting glazes at her home-studio in Coburg.

ALTERFACT is an experimental design studio created by Lucile Sciallano and Ben Landau in 2014. Since graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2013, Lucile and Ben have worked in tandem on various projects in different mediums. Their collaboration has culminated in the creation of Alterfact Studio, a platform through which to conduct critical research with materials and data translated through the manufacture of ‘stuff’.

Alterfact’s practice is currently focused on the use of 3D printing in clay as a small batch manufacturing process. They push the boundaries of this traditionally plastic-based medium, and play with its connotations of utilitarianism and gimmickry, as it moves into a feasible reality.
