pépite's story

Photography by Bri Hammond

pépite presents outstanding Australian design through a curated selection of original objects by local creatives.

Our vision goes beyond sourcing and selling handmade items - our true purpose is to uncover new talent and connect the public with a strong community of emerging and established makers, designers and artists.

We present work from a select group of emerging artists and curate a collection of pieces that tell a story, have their own strong aesthetic and that are above all beautifully made.

Featuring a mix of hand-picked ceramics, jewellery, artwork, accessories and apparel, pépite gathers the work of some of Melbourne’s (and Australia’s!) freshest and most promising artists under one roof.

There are more than 60 local creatives represented, with most of the objects being produced within 5 kilometres of our HQ. Everything is handmade, with many one-off pieces, limited editions and some special commissions exclusive to pépite.

Every object and happening at pépite has been curated by founder Irina Rybakov. Irina is passionate about supporting local talent and has been involved in Melbourne’s creative scene since she moved to Melbourne 9 years ago (from Lyon, France), working with frankie magazine, Craft Victoria and The Big Design Market.

We are constantly on the lookout for fresh design and are bringing new exciting pieces to you weekly so keep checking in so you don't miss out on our latest arrivals.

Oh and for those who were wondering, pépite means ‘a good find’ in French.
