SHARON ALPREN is a Melbourne based ceramic artist working out of her home studio in the Macedon Ranges. Sharon took up ceramics 15 years ago after relocating to Australia from her native UK where she had a background in Textiles.
Working with a mix of wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques, Sharon's work strikes a balance between creating both functional and sculptural pieces for the home, resulting in resilient everyday pieces without compromising on aesthetic. Sharon is particularly interested in glazes and texture and is constantly experimenting with creating her own glaze recipes.

With background in metal craft and object design, the fundamental focus behind Son’s practice is to create work that resemblance a sense of longevity and hand-craftsmanship. The design aesthetics of Son’s work relate to the idea of reduction and simplicity with emphasis on modern and traditional craftsmanship in the physical work process.
Son is interested in producing work that has the ability to interact with the user and its surroundings, allowing a trigger of emotions of the user when in harmony with the object. Son firmly believes, for contemporary crafts and craftsmanship to excel, is reliant on current and future makers to translate their outputs in a habitual and ingenuous manner towards the public. Work that is perhaps ordinary, rather a work that is conceived to be extraordinary.
