About The Artist

French-born ceramic artist Lucile Sciallano first trained in industrial design at the Design Academy Eindhoven before relocating to Melbourne in 2014, where she founded La Petite Fabrique de Brunswick - a ceramic studio dedicated to producing refined, functional porcelain tableware.

Self-trained in traditional slip-casting techniques, Lucile begins each vessel—whether a bowl, cup, or teapot—with a meticulously crafted prototype. From this, she creates moulds that allow her to cast iterative variations of each shape. Lucile hand-colours her porcelain with carefully mixed pigments and applies patterns freehand, ensuring that no two works are ever the same.

In recent years, Lucile has expanded her practice beyond slip casting to explore a range of handbuilding techniques. This evolution has led her into new territory, where textured surfaces, expressive forms, and experimental glazes give rise to sculptural, one-of-a-kind artworks.

Lucile’s work blends precision with play, quiet craftsmanship with bold experimentation—an enduring testament to her ability to create beauty from both discipline and discovery.
