SHARON ALPREN is a Melbourne based ceramic artist working out of her home studio in the Macedon Ranges. Sharon took up ceramics 15 years ago after relocating to Australia from her native UK where she had a background in Textiles.

Working with a mix of wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques, Sharon's work strikes a balance between creating both functional and sculptural pieces for the home, resulting in resilient everyday pieces without compromising on aesthetic. Sharon is particularly interested in glazes and texture and is constantly experimenting with creating her own glaze recipes.

ALTERFACT is an experimental design studio created by Lucile Sciallano and Ben Landau in 2014. Since graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2013, Lucile and Ben have worked in tandem on various projects in different mediums. Their collaboration has culminated in the creation of Alterfact Studio, a platform through which to conduct critical research with materials and data translated through the manufacture of ‘stuff’.

Alterfact’s practice is currently focused on the use of 3D printing in clay as a small batch manufacturing process. They push the boundaries of this traditionally plastic-based medium, and play with its connotations of utilitarianism and gimmickry, as it moves into a feasible reality.

STEPHANIE PHILLIPS is a ceramic artist from Sydney, Australia. She draws strong influence in her artistic direction from both of her grandmothers. Her paternal grandmother was a Russian immigrant who was a talented artist and craftswoman, while her maternal grandmother was involved in the establishment of The Crommelin Native Arboretum at Pearl Beach, NSW, where Stephanie has spent many weekends and holidays since childhood.

At a young age, she developed an affinity with the Australian bush and the influence of the forms and colours of native flora are evident in her work. Drawing on her love of plants, she creates curved vessels to house modern Ikebana. Using a combination of clays, glazes and oxides she creates her own colours and textures.

Stephanie studied glass arts at Sydney College of the Arts, mosaics at Randwick Tafe and fabric design and printing at East Sydney Tech before finding her true calling in ceramics. She has studied at ceramics at Gymea Tafe and at Hazelhurst in Sydney.
