About The Brand
SilaiWali is a social enterprise in New Delhi that upcycles waste fabric generated from apparel scraps to create handcrafted dolls and ornaments, whilst providing work pathways and sustainable income to Afghan refugee women in India.
SilaiWali pieces are handcrafted by a team of Afghan women refugees in observance of Fair Trade principles, supporting sustainable incomes that help build up communities of marginalised artisans. Together they create beautiful, soulful dolls and ornaments that have a completely unique aesthetic and are full of character.
The artisan team at SilaiWali is a testament to the resilience, creativity, and talent of Afghan women refugees in New Delhi. Working together, they infuse each product with a rich tapestry of cultural heritage through the art of stitching, embroidery and crochet work. These skilled women bring to life unique pieces that tell stories of tradition, perseverance, and beauty. SilaiWali's dedication to showcasing these timeless skills not only empowers the artisans but also shares a piece of Afghan culture with the world.
