After graduating with a Masters of Fine Arts in ceramics and receiving multiple awards for ceramic excellence, artist Irene Grishin-Selzer has continued her art practice alongside establishing a bespoke design practice under the name Iggy & Lou Lou.

"Texture is everything and working with clay provides endless textural possibilities. It has got that magic ability to appear both raw and refined at the same time" says Irene.

From her small studio in the Dandenong Ranges, MELINDA WALLIS strives for beauty in the form and surface. Simple designs can prove challenging, however this keeps her engaged as she continues to search for that one perfect piece... that enigma. She uses textured clays, often blending two or three together. The wheel gives Melinda the individual parts, and her hands assemble the finished product. The process is by far the main event for Melinda, the work is a bonus.

ALTERFACT is an experimental design studio created by Lucile Sciallano and Ben Landau in 2014. Since graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2013, Lucile and Ben have worked in tandem on various projects in different mediums. Their collaboration has culminated in the creation of Alterfact Studio, a platform through which to conduct critical research with materials and data translated through the manufacture of ‘stuff’.

Alterfact’s practice is currently focused on the use of 3D printing in clay as a small batch manufacturing process. They push the boundaries of this traditionally plastic-based medium, and play with its connotations of utilitarianism and gimmickry, as it moves into a feasible reality.

Her work is an ode to the making process, embracing the imperfections and beauty that arise along the way. Exploring texture, sculpture and mixed metals, her work aims to capture a natural ease.

Wearability is at the heart of her work. With conscious consumerism in mind, her work is made to be worn often and travel through life with the wearer, with the hope the pieces will be passed down generations.

Kira’s practice focuses on sustainability, using recycled materials where possible and making small quantities. Her work is made with love and consideration from her home studio in Naarm / Melbourne alongside her tiny bossy dog Pepper.
