RINA BERNABEI has been working in industrial design for the past 30 years. She has brought her love of earthy, clean aesthetics to clay. Her work encapsulates her years of practice as a product designer as well as the relationships between handmade craft practices and digital technologies and manufacture. In 2018 Rina completed a traditional throwing course in Kyoto with a master ceramicist and in 2020 was asked to set up the 3D digital ceramic studio at Kyushu University in Fukuoka. Working within the Architecture and Design Faculty she ran workshops with students and with local craftsmen and ceramic studios.

Working in Sydney at Kil.n.it, she specialises in crafting timeless pieces inspired by ancient forms, huge urns being her favourite. Collaborating with interior designers, her creations bring sophistication and a touch of history to living spaces. After graduating with a Masters of Fine Arts in ceramics and receiving multiple awards for ceramic excellence, artist Irene Grishin-Selzer has continued her art practice alongside establishing a bespoke design practice under the name Iggy & Lou Lou.

"Texture is everything and working with clay provides endless textural possibilities. It has got that magic ability to appear both raw and refined at the same time" says Irene.

Irene’s practice is informed by a deep respect for traditional making processes, a commitment to a minimal environmental footprint, and a devotion to creating handmade, beloved ceramics that last a lifetime.
