From her small studio in the Dandenong Ranges, MELINDA WALLIS strives for beauty in the form and surface. Simple designs can prove challenging, however this keeps her engaged as she continues to search for that one perfect piece... that enigma. She uses textured clays, often blending two or three together. The wheel gives Melinda the individual parts, and her hands assemble the finished product. Theodosius Ng 黄振康 (they/he/she) is a queer Chinese ceramic artist based in Naarm (Melbourne). Their practice employs wheel throwing, hand building and experimental glazing techniques. They are passionate about cross-disciplinary practices and tactility in materiality.

Inspired by their queerness, chronic illness and immigrant experience, Ng is curious about exploring the extraneous within the familiar through cultural, ritual, and spiritual concepts - revealing an inherent need to find pattern, beauty and ritual. Their works aim to co-create and collaborate with nature and humankind.

Since graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2013, Lucile and Ben have worked in tandem on various projects in different mediums. Their collaboration has culminated in the creation of Alterfact Studio, a platform through which to conduct critical research with materials and data translated through the manufacture of ‘stuff’.

Alterfact’s practice is currently focused on the use of 3D printing in clay as a small batch manufacturing process. They push the boundaries of this traditionally plastic-based medium, and play with its connotations of utilitarianism and gimmickry, as it moves into a feasible reality.

SIMONE KARRAS is a Melbourne-based ceramicist whose practice explores form and texture within a minimalist aesthetic. Her work consistently features rich textures, strong silhouettes and attractive curves. Simone creates functional works for everyday use alongside one-off large scale striking statement pieces.

Simone is particularly attracted to handbuilding techniques in her work such as coiling for its tactile and organic process, allowing her to take on a fluid approach when creating.

Simone completed a Bachelor of Arts (Ceramic Design) at Monash University.
