Jade’s background in Industrial Design formed her interest in ceramics and more broadly craft and ideas of slow making - a methodology she explores through her pieces that place just as much importance on the process as the final object.

KIRSTEN PERRY is a self-taught ceramicist working from her studio based in Preston, Melbourne. Working predominantly with slip cast mid-fired functional and non-functional vessels, Kirsten’s pieces pay homage to traditional ceramic forms. The bio-morphic forms are initially carved from foam or cardboard before being translated into ceramic, reflecting Kirsten’s background in Industrial design. Evidence of this transformation from one medium to another is kept, highlighting the texture of the foam and cardboard and often exaggerating the imperfections to celebrate the uniqueness of each piece. Kirsten also has a background in Gold and Silversmithing through Fine Arts training wh ich is often reflected in her work.

Burning Instructions:
Always allow the wax to burn so the entire surface is melted and pools to the edges of the container. This will prevent tunnelling and help promote an even burn. Never burn more than 4 hours at a time.
Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Burn away from draft, flammable objects, pets & children.
Keep your wicks trimmed to 5mm at all times; this limits mushrooming and sooting.
Stop burning your candle once there is about 1.5cm of wax left in the vessel. This will help prevent heat damage to the vessel and surface surrounding the candle.

STUDIO MULDERS is a Perth based creative project of Annemieke who worked across the world as a scientist before becoming a ceramic artist in 2014. Her work explores the intersection of order, chaos, function, asymmetry and beauty.

She uses discarded vessels that are changed by cutting, rearranging or breaking part of its surface. This process of destruction and building up creates a form that is simultaneously fragile, robust, complex and simple. This inherent contrariness demands questioning and defies simple categorisation.

JADE THORSEN is a Melbourne based ceramicist working from her North Fitzroy studio. Her practice focuses on wheel-thrown functional wares that sit somewhere between design, batch production and craft.

Jade’s background in Industrial Design formed her interest in ceramics and more broadly craft and ideas of slow making - a methodology she explores through her pieces that place just as much importance on the process as the final object.

ALTERFACT is an experimental design studio created by Lucile Sciallano and Ben Landau in 2014. Since graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2013, Lucile and Ben have worked in tandem on various projects in different mediums. Their collaboration has culminated in the creation of Alterfact Studio, a platform through which to conduct critical research with materials and data translated through the manufacture of ‘stuff’.

Alterfact’s practice is currently focused on the use of 3D printing in clay as a small batch manufacturing process. They push the boundaries of this traditionally plastic-based medium, and play with its connotations of utilitarianism and gimmickry, as it moves into a feasible reality.
