LAUREN JOFFE is a ceramic artist born in Cape Town, who immigrated to Melbourne as a child.
She studied Fine Art (Gold & Silversmithing) at RMIT and after graduating began her art practice as a contemporary jeweller and object maker, before changing medium to ceramics. Lauren’s work has been exhibited throughout Australia and internationally. She has been a finalist in a number of national and international awards and her work has been acquired by private collectors, RMIT and the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery.
She hand builds her pieces, which are often large in scale, and is primarily concerned with exploring the aesthetics of the vessel form and in the surfaces of her pieces through mark making and texture.

BASTARD CERAMICS is the ceramic studio of German artist Astrid Salomon.
Born in Germany, Astrid is now based in Melbourne after having lived in Berlin, Hamburg, Sydney and NYC. Having first studied Photography almost 20 years ago and later worked in directing, Astrid has now been focusing and experimenting with clay for the past 3 years.
Astrid creates one-of-a-kind pieces that are part of small batches and are imagined within series that extend and often in the process inform a new design. She uses hand building techniques like coiling and slab building, as well as slip-casting, and make her own glazes which is an integral part of her creative process.
‘Even though it is a much slower process, it is very rewarding once you get it right.’ says the artist.

ELLA REWETI is a Melbourne-based ceramicist working predominantly with slipcasting techniques to create functional, sculptural pieces inspired by industrial architectural forms. A failed academic, Ella put down the books and has been keeping her hands busy with clay for about five years. Largely self-taught, her practice is constantly evolving to encompass new skills and techniques accumulated through the play and experimentation of the making process.

TESSY KING is a ceramic artist based on the Northern Rivers in NSW working from her shed studio. During her Fine Arts studies at RMIT Tessy trained in Gold and Silversmithing as well as Ceramics which is reflected in the metal and enamel qualities of her pieces.
Her focus is on the process and arrangement of each piece she makes, granting herself freedom to construct form and integrate colour in an uncontrived way reflecting a youthful notion of play.
